Elizabeth Ziegler - Executive Director

Elizabeth (Liz) Ziegler began serving as the Commission’s Executive Director in July 2018. As Executive Director, she is responsible for the administrative operations of the Commission and employees, and serves as a liaison with the regulated community, other state officials and the public. Prior to that time, she served as the Commission’s General Counsel since 2006, the first attorney on staff at the Commission.

Liz has worked for the State of Missouri throughout her public service career, as an Assistant Attorney General for eight years, and as the Director of the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services for thirteen years. She was recognized by the Missouri Bar Foundation with the David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award for outstanding achievement in appellate practice.

Liz received her Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law, and her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. She is a member of the Missouri Bar and an inactive member of the Ohio Bar.

She is a past president of the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators (NAPC). In her capacity as a prosecutor coordinator, she served as the NAPC representative on the Board of Directors of the National District Attorneys Association. She also served on the Board of Directors of the National Criminal Justice Association and numerous national committees. She is a past member of the Missouri Task Force on Children's Justice.

Liz is serving as the 2022 President for the Council for Governmental Ethics Laws (COGEL) the international organization for government agencies and other organizations working in ethics, elections, freedom of information, lobbying, and campaign finance. She teaches as an adjunct professor in the areas of criminal justice and judicial process, and is a member of Zonta of Jefferson City.

Liz and her husband Bill, are the proud parents of 3 wonderful children, and enjoy spending time with their two grandchildren.
